Bim.GROUP's Australian Project Continues to Collect Awards

Following the Australian Steel Awards, bim.GROUP has received yet another prestigious recognition: the Rozelle Interchange/Parklands project has been named among the best in the “Built Outcomes” category at the Australian Urban Design Awards. Led by Transport for NSW Urban Design, the development was realized on the site of the former Rozelle railway yard, transforming a previously industrial area and significantly contributing to the social and ecological revitalization of Sydney’s Inner West.

bim.GROUP is proud to have been involved in the realization of the Rozelle Interchange in Australia, a project led by Studio Chris Fox. Our team was responsible for modeling the steel structures and preparing fabrication documentation, as part of a truly international collaboration. The project brought together clients, structural engineers, subcontractors, and manufacturers from Australia, Germany, and India. The result is a stunning steel structure that blends the ecological systems of the past, present, and future—and fits harmoniously into the natural and urban landscape of Rozelle Bay.

Key features of the Rozelle Interchange/Parklands:

  • 10 hectares of green space: The newly created park includes wetlands, picnic areas, playgrounds, and open grassy fields, designed to serve the diverse needs of the community.
  • Excellent transport connectivity: The park was carefully designed with integrated pedestrian and cycling paths that connect neighboring districts such as Victoria Road, Annandale, and the Anzac Bridge area.
  • Biophilic design and artistic integration: The steel structures and green walls built around the three ventilation towers in the park not only offer aesthetic value but also promote urban biodiversity.
  • Social and economic impact: Rozelle Parklands functions as more than just a green area—it strengthens community connections and enhances urban quality of life. The project supports sustainable transportation and helps mitigate the urban heat island effect.

The Rozelle Interchange/Parklands stands as a model example of how a previously abandoned industrial site can be transformed into a livable, sustainable, and community-friendly urban space. The project successfully merges infrastructure development with community needs and environmental considerations—contributing to its award-winning success.

Congratulations to the bim.GROUP team for yet another prestigious recognition!
