We are excited to inform you that our National Athletics Stadium project—specifically, the design, manufacturing, and construction of its roof structure—has been shortlisted for the iStructE award this year! The Structural Awards 2024, which has been celebrating excellence in structural engineering for over 50 years, recognizes the very best in the profession. The entry was submitted by the bim.GROUP team, in collaboration with BuroHappold, who also participated in the design.
Additionally, other members of the KÉSZ Group contributed to this prestigious project. If our colleagues manage to pull off a win and the jury decides in our favor, we’ll add another prestigious award to the Tekla BIM Award we won last year.
The Structural Awards 2024 shortlist highlights the best engineering projects from the past year, focusing on sustainability, social impact, innovation, and ingenuity. The jury evaluates submissions in four categories: Planet (environmental impact), People (social value), Process (technical innovation), and Profession (professional representation). The National Athletics Stadium project will be judged in the Process category, with a special focus on technical innovation, which will be crucial in the final decision. We are extremely honored that our project is being considered in these important categories.
What was the International Athletics Center project about?
The new complex, which served as the central venue for the 2023 World Athletics Championships, is located in the triangular area formed by the main Danube river branch, the Ráckevei-Duna branch, and Kvassay Jenő Road, just south of the Rákóczi Bridge. bim.GROUP's task was to prepare the steel and cable structure technological and manufacturing plans, support the manufacturing, assembly, and geodetic processes throughout the entire implementation, and coordinate the work of the involved specialists. Other KÉSZ Group companies and strategic partners, including KÉSZ Metaltech Ltd., KÉSZ Industrial Manufacturing Ltd., Baumetall Design Ltd., and Geolink3D, also participated in the project.
