Science Park Szeged

85 Ha Science and Innovation Park Design – in the area of the former barracks in Szeged

The aim of our „Masterplan” project is to define, among other things, the positions, architectural appearance, green spaces, transport directions and axes of the future research centres. The planned Science Park shall ensure the direct connection of R&D and innovation companies with the research infrastructure of ELI-ALPS and the University of Szeged, in order to create an innovation base on which the Science Park may base its long-term operation.

Taking into account the schedule of building the future park, the first phase shall include the following functional elements: the new Campus buildings, the Automotive Competence Centre, the Incubator House, the Visitor and Conference Centre and the Technical-Technological and Innovation Centre. The remaining area of 60Ha shall be used for the design of an environment that will support the everyday life of future students and staff, with a focus on sustainability (e.g. natural cooling through the use of large green and water areas), in cooperation with the various institutes of the University of Szeged, including the following departments: Medical and Pharmaceutical Technologies, Material and Particle Technologies, Information Technologies, Offices. Our priority is to create a scientific innovation park where knowledge generated in the academic field may be integrated into businesses as easily as possible.

The planning area is expected to soon become a vibrant second city centre, augmented by the construction of a Science Conference and Visitor Centre by the summer of 2023 that will host the World Student Olympiad in Informatics at the end of next summer. Our office is also designing the concept and construction plans for this building. The development of the Science Park is one of the most significant strategic steps in the history of the University of Szeged, enabling it to become a fourth generation university and a prime driver of economic development in the region - we are proud to take part thereof and partner with the University in achieving these goals.
